Matthew Luk is a former investigator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), where he assisted with investigations of insider trading activities in the stock market and assisted with enforcement actions against illegal trading activities.
Matthew earned bachelor’s degrees in economics and politics from New York University and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was a Student Fellow of the Institute of International Economic Law. His course work in law school included securities regulation, Fintech law, antitrust economics and law, and bankruptcy law.
During his years in Washington D.C., Matthew interned for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). At the FDIC, Matthew helped evaluate bank operations, risk management strategies, and consumer protection practices; analyzed and responded to legal issues of FDIC field examiners; and led a project to update part of the FDIC Consumer Protection Compliance Examination Manual. At the SEC, he researched and compiled information regarding cryptocurrency and tokens; analyzed and commented on proposed rules from NASDAQ and NYSE regarding SPAC; and assisted with investigating insider trading information, whistleblower reports, and referrals.
Matthew then returned to his roots in Arizona to serve for two years as a law clerk for the Honorable Scott H. Gan of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Arizona in Tucson before joining Tiffany & Bosco in August 2022.
